Bunnell-Stratford HS Band

COLOR GUARD AND WINTER GUARD

This is a group at BHS that is similar to the marching band. The group meets at the same times as the Marching Band. You must request this from Mr. Miller by June 1. Performances are the same as marching band. WINTER GUARD - meets starting in December and competes through until April. Fund Raising is a requirement. Winter registration begins in November each year.

Winter Guard

This is an extra-curricular group that meets once a week from December through April. Rehearsals are at night so there are NO conflicts with winter sports. Performances (10) are on Saturday afternoon & evenings with practices twice a week. Fund Raising and also required.




Fall Color Guard

This is an extra-curricular group that meets once a week from September through Thanksgiving, and performs along with the marching band. Rehearsals are at night so there are NO conflicts with fall sports. The Marching Band will perform at all Home football games, Marching Band Competitions which are on Saturday evenings (7 contests total), and Parades throughout the year. You must request this from Mr. Miller before March 1'st. Band Camp (one week at BHS during August) and Fund Raising is also required.


Guard Captains.

The Captain of the guard should be a reliable person, who has experience, talent, and an ability to communicate effectively to the rest of the membership. The Captain should be a person that will be respected, and is respectful. The attitude of the Captain should never come into question.

The Captain should be a person who is in attendance at all practices, arrives early, and helps others to clean up at the end. A Captain is one who is trustworthy and can help others, while accepting criticism from others. The Captain is a positive role model, who has demonstrated the Pillars of Character on a regular basis, and will model these characteristics for the Guard and the rest of the Band.
