Bunnell HS Band

Band Parents Alumni

The following are some testimonials from Bunnell Band Parents who had children that were part of the program.

I began thinking and thinking and thinking of all the memories and experiences the band/guard afforded each of us... I have always been impressed with how important EACH person is to the whole...  it was only through working together that the band/guard was able to create music and to showcase the music in a choreographed routine, enhanced by the flag/rifle/sabre movements.  Even the parents got into the act with building scenery,  moving props, loading and then unloading the buses, becoming weather addicted (please do not let it rain or let it be too windy) never mind cheering and yelling in support of our kids.  We, parents and kids alike, were able to build friendships and to know that we were part of a family.  We counted on each other and knew that we were part of some of the best experiences high school can offer!  I know that as we recall the venues/parades/competitions we participated in, none can compare to the simple fact of being able to enjoy the talent of our kids!  We were consistently amazed and impressed with how the group began and where the group finished at the end of a season.  My advice to incoming parents is to GET INVOLVED, STAY INVOLVED, and BE PROUD of being a part of  this organization.  My daughter graduated in 2008 and is still in contact with many of the friends she made through her involvement with band/guard... again, memories to look back on!

I just can't say enough about the band/guard!

One of the greatest experiences we’ve had as Parents was seeing our son participate in the Bunnell Marching Band. It was in the Band that he learned to develop important friendships, build self esteem, learn valuable skills such as teamwork and time management and most importantly, to have a lot of fun!!!  As parents, we also formed many, many friendships with other parents that remain  strong today.  I can still remember all the fun trips to DisneyWorld, Orange Bowl Parades, the Naval Academy in Baltimore and the thrill of watching that band perform!  We  would literally get goose bumps!  We were so proud!  It will forever be one of the most remarkable and positive experiences of all our memories!

“Being a part of the band and color guard was a rewarding experience for each of our 4 children. It provided an opportunity to be a team member and express their artistic talents, and the friendships they made are still strong. We enjoyed the variety of musical themes, especially The Beatles and The Circus,  and the trips, and performances are memorable. The work and practice paid off and everyone benefitted.”

It was great to be a part of the band parent organization. We made many lifelong friendships with the parents, and got to know the students as well.  It was great to watch the students grow and mature.  To this day, they come back and tell of their success in college and jobs.  I feel we made lifelong bonds with the students because we supported them every step of the way thru Band and they truly appreciated that.  They were always so grateful of our support. That was the best reward as a band parent--hearing a heartfelt "thank you" from the students at the end of the day.
